Fallow Deer

Native of Europe where they are fairly widespread. Well adapted to the US; common in Texas.

​

They come in a variety of colors: White (bright white to cream), Black (dark chocolate to light brown), Spot similar to Axis (base color varies from very light to very dark).

​

This is the only deer species other than moose that have palmated antlers.

​

The meat is very good and has a slightly sweet taste.
